With a new presidential administration and possible “shakeup” or proposed elimination of the Internal Revenue Service, efforts are under way that could delay tax returns.
“A week before Inauguration Day, a dozen GOP lawmakers introduced the Fair Tax Act of 2025. The bill seeks to abolish the IRS and repeal all personal and corporate income taxes and the death tax, gift tax, and payroll tax,” Kiplinger reported.
The Fair Tax Act aims to create a national sales tax that “would eliminate the need for the IRS.”
