Tax season is almost here.
The IRS will begin processing returns for 2024 taxes, beginning Jan. 27.
Taxpayers have until April 15 to submit their tax returns.
The IRS expects to receive more than 140 million returns from taxpayers this year, the agency said in a news release.
The IRS said taxpayers should expect to see refunds within 21 days of filing.
“Taxpayers can use Where’s My Refund? to check the status of their 2024 income tax refund within 24 hours of e-filing,” the agency stated. “Refund information is normally available after four weeks for taxpayers who filed a paper return.”
The IRS urged taxpayers to choose a trusted tax professinal.
“More than half of taxpayers turn to a tax professional for help filing a tax return,” the agency stated.
